Gram flour, often known as besan, is a typical flour in Indian households. Besan is a multipurpose edible flour made from powdered chickpeas or Bengal gramme. Besan, which is light yellow in colour and fine in texture, has a place in the field of cosmetic treatments such as face packs. This is due to besan’s exfoliating nature and ability to remove tans.
1) Diabetes control:
Chickpeas are classified as legumes. Havard University research has linked bean eating to a lower GI. The high fibre content of besan also reduces blood sugar absorption, which is a major concern for diabetics. As a result, besan is currently regarded as a superfood capable of lowering blood sugar levels in Type 2 diabetics.
2) Helps increase blood level:
Besan includes iron, a mineral that the body need to create blood. Anaemia is caused by a lack of blood and is characterised by pale fingernails. So look for the moon in your nails. You are not anaemic if the area above the moon till the fingertip is pink or even darker than a pink. You may still consume besan in whatever manner you like. However, for those who have pale fingernails and are therefore anaemic, include besan in their diet on a daily basis will make a significant impact.
3) Colon cancer protection:
Gram flour, often known as chickpea flour, aids in the prevention of colon cancer. According to research conducted in the United States and Mexico, besan consumption aids in the reduction of oxidation of DNA and proteins. It also stops Beta-catenin from working. Furthermore, besan contains saponins and lignans, which include starch that cannot be digested. As a result, when these indigestible materials from besan enter the small intestine, the beneficial bacteria in the colon utilise them to keep the colon healthy.
4) Helps the body stay active:
The fibre in besan flour has an effect on the digestive tract. It aids in the slowing of the system. This makes you feel full. Sugar levels in the body are kept under control due to its sluggish digestion. This occurs because besan prevents blood sugar levels from rising or plummeting. Fatigue comes in when blood sugar levels drop.
5) Body exfoliation:
This is arguably one of the simplest methods of exfoliation. Three tablespoons of besan are required. Combine it with a sprinkle of turmeric and a tablespoon of rice powder, crushed. You may also add half a spoonful of honey if you have dry skin. To form a paste, combine all of the ingredients with rosewater and apply to your face and body. Allow it to dry. Wet your palms and begin rubbing the dry paste from your skin before taking a bath. Your skin will be smooth and supple as a result of this.
